I suggest you ...

one back-end, multiple Store-fronts (like Magento)

C'mon we're close to getting this.
Interspire have already said that they would not do this.
Let's get CS-Cart up there with the big-boys.

This feature would really work well.

See MagentoCommerce

for how others have done it.

the now anouncement of multi-store plan :( is not ok
want to pay for multi-shop but not so
price is too high for him
in my shop have 100 categories and each category I want to have a domain
You have not specified what happens if you use subdomains
As with multivendor should pay once and use the many areas we

I would like if each store owner can choose their template from the gallery (there should be a temlate preview backend against the options)

Vendor should be able to choose if they want a subdomain (e.g. store.mall.com) or external domain (e.g. www.myowndomain.com) url or if they just want their products to display in the main store as currently configured.

There should be a store subscriptions plan allowing admin to set one-time fee, monthly fee and/or sales commission for each store

I need to administrate from one backend and have multiple front ends. Each site should be a separate entity with different design/layout.
I should be able to mix and match the categories per website.

I hope with this, I can have different vendors with different minimum order sizes and their own delivery costs, whereas customers only have to login once to shop at all of them.
Admin should have more options to choose which options to offer vendors though.

I just have to ask, does someone create a chain of new accounts so they can inflate vote number of this idea... or is it REALLY that popular.

I don't think this would require a complete re write of the core code at all. Jobosales, one possibility would be to have an addon that you install which sets that server as the main control server of other stores, you then have options to add more stores and enter their mysql connection info. The addon creates a few new tables to store the data, and adds simple drop down to select which store you want to configure you see the same layout as now with a notice box up top to let you know which store your editing, the ability to copy / send settings from one store to another boxes products categories etc, also an option to setup custom dashboard to view sales stats, or visitor stats from any combination of your stores. The combined data stays in the main server DB where the new tables were made. All settings are updated remotely with mysql and maybe you could even setup ftp information for each store to send custom templates and files to that reside on one stores file system and need to be copied to another. Servers that didn't allow remote mysql would be a problem. I think this is a good way to create a big addon that can manage multiple stores with and keep all it's code separate from the core code and just work directly with remote mysql and ftp

Looks like www.opencart.com have now added multi-store, without a song and a dance and it's free! Template support is looking good too.

The "C'mon..." comment in an earlier post was meant to be positive encouragement for CS-Cart to grab an opportunity.

I'm using CS cart on 2 stores now, but I am trialling opencart as a project because of the multi-store feature.

you are right this feature and the ebay/amazon addon would require a lot of work and effort which would be better off used on getting the core cs-cart functionality working correctly and optimised. such as improving checkout and shipping calculations.

"C'mon we're close to getting this."

This is so untrue. First, you are not any closer just because you have a lot of votes. This "feature" would require quite a re-write of the cart. I am sure that it is the hardest to implement. So, comrades, wipe your saliva.

It's essential that, for the people who won't want this feature, it wouldn't interfere or cause extra clutter. If I'm not using more than 1 store, I don't want to see a "Store" column on every page with site info.
