Also, keep in mind that when using suppliers, each supplier needs a different Purchase Order notification layout. And other Supplier info is needed on the Supliers order email such as
Firstname lastname (It had this when suppliers was an addon in 2.0.15 but I think someone from the Apple team got employed at cs-cart and decided that it wasnt needed)
Account number

Maybe make the templates editable in a similar way to the way Blocks are handled. Making all the variable available, and able to insert images and html.

I agree Flow.
And with several different shipping methods I have 2 different labels, and 2 invoice formats depending on the Product being shipped. Muck effort has gone into making these show up in Admin menu. CsCart needs to add customizable templates for invoices and shipping labels and offer more choises to select for admin's. For example we sometimes print the AusPost Regitered Post lodgement form and shipping label and invoice on one A4 page. Sometimes only the invoice or shipping label. -

I just spent 4 days fixing all my invoice templates because cs-cart 2.1.4 is has a lot of changes from 2.0.x .. The team have spent a lot of time making 2.2.1 admin pages look nice, and completely stuffed up the usability of the back-end in the process, they forgot that admin users don't care about pretty shadows, they just want to be as productive as possible. If only cs-cart team had put effort into the things that really matter . like this ! C'mon cscart team, the email and invoice templates are awful! Its time to fix this ...

It looks like this idea will be implemented soon. I hope you can make it so that when we delete an order (a test order for example) the order number goes back to the previous order number.
Why?
In the entire EU, invoice numbers have to be sequential. You can't skip a number. Which makes CS-cart a BIG pain in the #$@ because if I do a test order or if an order gets cancelled I can't put the order # back and I miss an invoice.

There's such possibility in Zoho Invoice online tool. Easy to edit blocks, picture place, page numbers, foot note, barcode place....
This feature is really missing in CS CART I can't believe it hasn't been implemented earlier. -

My top request is to have a cost field and to be able to add it to the supplier email. In addition, the standard supplier email should extend the quantities of items ordered times the product cost and provide a total. In addition, we should be able to add a shipment method and shipper account number.

Configurable invoice and packingslip:
I would really need the ability to add/configure/define information fields freely, similar to a "form" under "Content>>Pages".In Norway, when the client is a registered company, invoices are sometimes sent together with shipment for payment withing 30 days (or similar). This generates the need to provide invoices with info like bank account number, IBAN/SWIFT information, Company/Organisation Register Number, payment deadlines, client contact, client reference number, and custom text, and even possibly advertisement of a similar product the client bought.
Thanks for a great shopping cart!

Oh ...And yes I agree:
Automated emails need to be Order Status dependant.
Actually, all templates need the ability to be Block dependant :
Order Status,
Supplier (some orders have more than one supplier),
Shipping Method,
Shipping Address (country)
Billing Address (country)
to list a few. -

Yes this is a MUST-Have. I have made several custom templates over a few years, and its a pain in the rear each time I need to update cs-cart.
One important issue when designing this is that most Mail Client apps (Outlook, Apple Mail, etc) do not support CSS very well. The layout often defaults tho the mail programs settings for font styles etc. The only way to reliably display an emailed invoice/confirmation is to use simple html code for each and every line. Using PDF may sidestep this issue, but for a html formatted email, forget using CSS style sheets. Text formatting and table layouts, background images ... everything needs to be simple line-for-line html formatting.
There needs to be an easy way to select Order Data and drop it into a wysiwyg editor. I can imagine that this will be a major project. Looking forward to it ! -

I totally agree with mimi below, Customers can print off invoices from my company without paying for them & put them through their books, major flaw in the system.

This should include the ability of letting invoice be visible ONLY when the order has been paid or shipped, it has been long talked about in forum spacially from European sellers. Invoice should not be given to the customers until they have paid.
In order notification, invoice should be attached in shipped orders or paid orders, not in open orders. For open or pending orders I suggest just to send a confirmation message with order details or whatever the seller wished to write there. -

Yes this would be a great improvement, also something similar for the gift certificate layout please!

This should include more settings for invoice order status such as the ability to select if a status contributes to points, gross, or total.
Also, this issue is a significant deficiency of the cart and should be considered before other items that would be more along the lines of adding new features. Fixing problems should come before new features.
