The biggest thing I would like to see for search is where we could assign a landing page to a certain search term like Magento allows.
For example, a lot of our site users will search for a specific brand (let's say Nike). So instead of returning a TON of products from NIke, I would like to take them to the Nike landing page. See Magento for more details on this . . . but this is HUGE!

Also, we should be able to customize the fields that are allowed to be searched. For example, I only want to search product title, search words and product code . . . not description.

Quick search and the standard search results should match . . . right now they don't! And we should be able to have search landing pages based on keywords like Magento has as well as the ability for a user to see categories in the search results.

Hey guys, and make sure you add all the features that I had you design into LuzerneOptical.com at http://www.luzerneoptical.com/index.php?dispatch=products.search
Look at the truncated content search results page as well.
Thanks, Stephen

Simple Search Box
Posted in Professional » Storefront - General
Why doesant the search box do what it should & search the whole site for whatever you put in it.
Most E Commerce stores get this wrong, except Zen Cart.
If a customer wants to look a part number on my site, The have to go to advanced search, Type it into code search, (not description or it wont show up anything) By this stage the customer will probably confused & have logged off.
E Commerce systems have to be as simple as possible, Why put up fences in front of our customers.. Search should search the whole site.
Tech help said i could get a custom mod coded....I dont think so,,,,enough money spent.

The problem: Many customers are having difficulties finding the products that they want and are leaving the website and buying from elsewhere
The solution: Search results in order of relevance.

Great idea! I've got a few sales reps and they often get feedback from customers stating that they can't find products on the website.
